Matthew has been playing the bass since a very early age. He picked up the instrument after catching the love of playing music from his older brothers who needed a bassist to finish an inexperienced but enthusiastic trio.
While growing up he moved through many bands with his friends having a lot of fun but always finding that his skill gained with jamming with his brothers outweighed his peers and he hunted for musicians with the right ‘thing’.
In 2001 he attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey where he was tutored by and played along side musicians such as, Paul Francis (James Taylor Quartet, Paul Weller) and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chillie Peppers).
He found the college an inspiration and discovered that his technical skills were even beginning to outweigh his tutors.
While there he matured as a musician and set out to begin his career in music.
He moved to Brighton where he started up several original projects with friends and did several sessions for the Music academy in Brighton at the infamous Levellers studio, but still he hadn’t found the musicians he strove to work with.
